On October 5th, 2019 the United States Naval Academy Midshipmen played against the United States Air Force Academy Falcons in the first ever women’s hockey game between service academies.
The Midshipman won, but it was an incredible opportunity for members of both teams to participate in the historic event.
Prior to the game, members of the Air Force Academy Cadets stayed in Bancroft Hall (the Mids’ dorm) with members of the Naval Academy’s Team and the players got to swap stories from their different academy experiences.
The Naval Academy Women’s Hockey program started in 2009 and the Air Force Academy team is in the process of developing a program.
The United States Military Academy is also in the early stages of developing a program.
