Catching Up With the Bobcats

Share

Last time we left off the Bobcats were just finishing up preseason and heading into the commencement of our season. It’s pretty unbelievable to think that we are already a third of our way into the season and only two conference games away from winter break!  We have had quite the successful fall with one of the best starts in program history, a direct result of our hard work and disciplined hockey.  While the rest of the Quinnipiac campus heads home to celebrate Thanksgiving, the team stays at school for a conference game against Princeton and for the Nutmeg Classic, where the three Connecticut teams (Quinnipiac, Yale, and UConn) will be joined by Clarkson for a tournament.  For clarification purposes, the Nutmeg is NOT the state bird…(a mix-up made by a Canadian teammate). Although we will be meeting Yale and possibly Clarkson, these games will not count for our conference.  Before the tournament, we have a very anticipated Thanksgiving meal at coach’s house that will consists of highly competitive eating competitions, pool tournaments, and knee hockey games with coach’s two, adorable sons.

Before we can go home for a brief visit with the family for the winter holidays, we have our final two conference games for this half of the season against Harvard and Dartmouth, and a very long week of exams. Following Christmas day, the team will return to Hamden to get back on the ice and work off all the gingerbread cookies and Christmas hams.  Although the rest of the students don’t come back until late January, the team will be enjoying one of the most enjoyable times of the year, where there is nothing to do but play hockey and binge watch shows on Netflix.  Somewhere in there we will most definitely include a round of Secret Santa.  I will be sure to let you know how all of that goes next time around.  For now, it’s only Thanksgiving!

Happy Holiday!
