Saying Goodbye | Zoey Crispens

On Sunday, February 23rd, I took off my jersey and untied my skates for the last time playing with AMHA. Sure, I will have other opportunities to get out on the ice but it will never be the same because after dedicating the past 13 years to the rinks in and around Airdrie, it begins to feel like home.

After having been one of very few girls playing in the boys league I’d learned early on in hockey how important “we” is then “I”. I am a girl, but we are a team.

Hockey has taught me more about life than anything else ever could by teaching me about discipline, courage, teamwork, and communication.

To those still in action, keep chasing your dream and keep bettering yourself, but most importantly, enjoy the ride and never miss a moment. My career may be over, but the memories will last forever.
