Rockets Sweep First Round of Playoffs; Head to Provincial Finals

In game 3 in a best-of-five series, the Moncton Midget AAA Rockets defeated the Fundy Nationals 9-0 on Saturday, February 28th, ending the first round playoffs undefeated. Lauren Shaw earned a four point game and Madison Swinemer walked away with the hat trick.

First period goals were scored by Maddy Morrissey (Brooke Murphy), Morgan Porter (Lauren Shaw), Madison Swinemer (Brooke Augustine) and Faith Steeves (Emma Rae Murphy). The second period resulted in goals from Porter (Shaw, Morrissey), and Shaw (Augustine, Isabelle Letourneau). 

To conclude the third period, the remaining goals were scored by Swinemer (Jennifer Arsenault, E. Murphy), Swinemer (Shaw) and B. Murphy (unassisted). Brianne Waterman was the winning goaltender facing 19 shots. Ashely McLean goaltended for the Nationals and received a total of 55 shots against.

The Rockets now head to the New Brunswick provincial championship series. Their opponent will be the Miramichi Northern Stars in a best-of-five matchup.
