January 5, 2018 – Tickets for the pair of exhibition games between Team NWHL and the U.S. Olympic Team next weekend in Florida are available now by clicking HERE.
Start times for the games will be 6:15 pm on Saturday, Jan. 13 and 2:15 pm on Monday, Jan. 15. Both games are at the U.S. National Team’s training complex at Florida Hospital Center Ice in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
Tickets are just $10 each, with 50 percent of the proceeds benefitting the USA Hockey Foundation’s Friends of Women’s Hockey Fund. Seating is general admission. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online and print their tickets at home.
Team NWHL is comprised of some of the top players from all four of the league’s teams, including Kelly Babstock of the Connecticut Whale, Sarah Edney of the Buffalo Beauts, NWHL leading scorer Alexa Gruschow of the Metropolitan Riveters and Jillian Dempsey of the Boston Pride. Riveters defender Michelle Picard, a longtime player in the national program, is the captain of Team NWHL.
“We hope NWHL fans will join us in Florida for this celebration of women’s hockey,” said NWHL Commissioner Dani Rylan. “The NWHL will do its best to give our Olympians some strong competition so they’re ready to bring home the gold in February.”
Nine players on the recently-named Olympic Team played in at least one of the NWHL’s first two seasons: Kacey Bellamy, Brianna Decker, Meghan Duggan, Amanda Kessel, Hilary Knight, Gigi Marvin, Amanda Pelkey, Emily Pfalzer and Haley Skarupa.
