Traverse City Girls North Stars Hockey Program Invites Local Community to its Inaugural Fundraiser

Traverse City, MI – Nov. 9, 2022 – Traverse City North Stars Girls Hockey is the premier girls hockey program in Northern Michigan dedicated to providing a home for all area girls to develop the foundation, skills and love for the sport of hockey.

On November 11, 2022, the North Stars Girls Hockey Program is holding its inaugural, 80’s Skate Night!, a fundraiser at Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City. The open skate will take place from 6:30PM – 9:30PM.

The organization is inviting the entire community to rally behind the program that empowers and enables young girls to join the sport. The family friendly event includes a fun 80’s theme with neon lights and 80’s tunes on the ice! The event will have incredible experiences including food by local food truck, Good on Wheels, beverages by Northwoods Soda, door prizes, a silent auction, and various kids activities. All proceeds will to go to supporting local girls playing hockey in Traverse City.

“The girls program is about providing access to hockey and elevating the game for women and girls of all ages. The experiences these girls have in sports creates a larger message of collaboration, confidence and empowerment they will use throughout their lives. It is our goal to bring the game of hockey to all girls in the community!” said Emily Wilson, VP TC North Stars Girls Hockey

“Traverse City, once known as “Hockey Town North,” is not surprisingly leading in growing the sport of girls hockey in the state of Michigan. When my oldest daughter first joined seven years ago, there were two North Stars girls teams…now there are six. It’s an absolute blast to see more and more of Traverse City girls lacing ‘em up, and competing each season. – Jim Feeley, Coach, 10U North Stars Girls.
