Sauce Us a Follow

Hello hockey fanatics,

My name is Sydney Rossman and I am a junior goaltender on the Quinnipiac Women’s Ice Hockey team. Before you judge and assume that I am the weirdest thing since Goldberg, just give me a chance! I promise to keep you up to date on all things Quinnipiac, hockey and fun.

The 2015-2016 Quinnipiac Bobcats opened up their season against each other. Yep, you heard me right. We participated in an inter-squad scrimmage just a few weeks ago, with the responsibility of picking up pucks after practice on the line. With our new practice jerseys and socks, courtesy of our equipment managers and the athletic department, we hit the ice for warm ups…in one end, followed by a pep talk….in the same locker room. You could cut the tension with a knife.

With the inter-squad scrimmage behind us, the Quinnipiac Bobcats had a strong week of practice, followed by the home-opener weekend against Mercyhurst. The Bobcats started off hot with two goals from junior assistant captain Emma Woods and one from freshman Melissa Samoskevich. After coming to a 3-3 draw that night, we bounced right back the next day at 1 pm and came out with a 2-1 win.

This week, we travel to the home of the black bear for two non-conference games against Maine. We expect an entertaining bus ride with a lot of karaoke and a little bit of studying. Kidding of course, homework always comes first. We might even throw a game or two of mafia in the mix, speak to any fellow Bobcat for the directions for this game, you won’t regret it.

The next two weeks consist of an exhibition game against Western and a non-conference game against Yale. I promise to keep you up to date on scores, practices, and most importantly, updates on the team’s latest dance moves.

Please enjoy these class photos taken by John Hassett, which do a very good job at depicting the different personalities among our team.
