PHILADELPHIA, PA –September 9, 2022 – The Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) today announced the first two stops of the 2022-23 Secret® Dream Gap Tour will take place in Montreal, QC on October 15-16 and in Truro, NS from November 4-6. Each event will feature all four star-studded, region agnostic PWHPA teams – Team adidas, Team Harvey’s, Team Scotiabank and Team Sonnet.

The first event will consist of a total of four games— two games per team, with Truro consisting of a total of six games— three games per team. Teams will compete for season points, which will determine rankings for the championship weekend, to be played at the end of the 2022-23 season. The complete schedule can be seen below.

“We’re thrilled to kick off the season in Montreal and Truro, two locations where we’ve held successful events in the past,” said Jayna Hefford, PWHPA Operations Consultant. “The support we’ve received from the organizing groups behind the scenes in both Montreal and Truro have been phenomenal, and I know our athletes will, once again, get the first-class treatment they deserve. We also know the fan support in both communities are among the best in women’s hockey, so we can’t wait to bring the best players in the world to them.”

In Montreal, games will be played at Verdun Auditorium in partnership with Centre 21.02, the High Performance Hockey Centre and arena where PWHPA players from the Montreal region have been training for three years. Day passes are on sale now and can be purchased here. Single game tickets will go on sale on September 20th. All games will be streamed live via ici.radio-canada.ca/sports
“We are very excited to be back playing in Verdun, the home of women’s hockey, where growing the game is the focus,” said Olympic gold medalist and PWHPA goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens.

After a successful event in November 2021, the PWHPA will see its return to Truro from November 4-6 at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre. All six games will be streamed online via the PWHPA YouTube channel and the final four matchups of the weekend will be broadcast live on Eastlink TV.  “Last season, our venue, in partnership with the Town of Truro, Municipality of Colchester County and the Province of Nova Scotia made a commitment to the PWHPA to support our shared objective to advance diversity and gender equality in sport,” said Matt Moore, General Manager, Rath Eastlink Community Centre. “Together, we are excited to continue building off of the momentum we created last season, when we became the first hosts in Atlantic Canada to present women’s professional hockey. This hosting opportunity will create positive social and economic impacts for the region. I have no doubt that this season we will surpass the nearly 8000 spectators who attended the event in Truro last fall and created a lasting legacy for women’s sport development.”

Day and weekend passes for games in Truro, NS are available here now— single game tickets will be made available on September 14. Team rosters for the four region agnostic PWHPA teams will be announced throughout the month of September and, as previously announced, will feature 43 Olympians, more than 75 players with national level experience and new top college graduates.
