NAIT Sitting Top of Standings going into Christmas Break

Merry Christmas to my Blog Followers! 🙂

I am sure you guys are finding it crazy, just like me, that Christmas is just around the corner. December has been a busy month hence why I am just getting to writing my blog now.

To start off the month, our team did our second fitness testing of the year and then we did our annual December Cup Challenge. Within this challenge, we do a lot of fun activities such as skills competitions, swimming competitions and broomball, to name a few. I am ohhhh so happy to announce that I have finally won the challenge for the first time in my five years of being here at NAIT. My fellow fifth year teammate, Jill Diachuk, was on my team as well and it was also her first time winning. Bitter sweet winning in our last year. Our team was Finding Nemo, then the other two teams were The Rugrats and The Smurfs. It is always such a fun time and it was great competition between our team.

Going into Christmas Break our team is sitting atop of the standings and it is a great feeling going into the break knowing we are sitting on top. Training programs have been set for our team during Christmas break because we know if we want to stay on top, it is going to take a lot of work and dedication. I am very proud with the success our team has had so far and I hope it continues into the new year.

I have finally made it home for the holidays and I have been quite busy so far. I have been spending a lot of time with my family and friends and also got to watch my younger twin brothers play hockey for the first time this year. They are always such a treat to watch and I would like to congratulate the Portage Terriers on being ranked number one in Canada a majority of the season. They are hosting the RBC Cup this year and I am so excited to be able to travel to Manitoba to watch the boys participate in this amazing tournament. Next on my list is to watch my older brother play as well since I don’t get to watch him play that much anymore since I have been living in Edmonton. I am sure I will be heading on the ice with all my family as well and we will have a little game of hockey to keep the tradition going. We like to head out on the ice together any time we are home together for the holidays, something we love to do.

I was very lucky to be able to head out on the ice with my old AAA Midget Team, The Yellowhead Chiefs, after arriving in Manitoba. It has been quite a while since I played in that league, and I really loved being able to skate with the girls and share my experiences with them since I have started playing college hockey. Practicing and working out with them was awesome, despite the fact that I couldn’t walk normal for a few days after the workout. I wish the Yellowhead Chiefs the best of luck throughout the rest of their season!

That leaves me wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The year of 2014 has been great and I have enjoyed sharing it with you. I am excited to see what 2015 brings and of course I am excited to share it with you as well. Take care and enjoy your holidays! Peace and love.
