Chatham Cougars Face Vulcans and Look Ahead to Plattsburgh

It’s hockey season finally!

After the long wait of offseason and preseason workouts as well as skates, Chatham has finally begun our 2015-2016 hockey season.  This past month, we had our annual triathlon and fitness test.  Great job to all my teammates!  We had been preparing for fitness testing since the end of last season and we all performed well!

Our first game was an exhibition game against California University of PA on November 7th.  The final score was 9-0 with a total of four goals from Marissa Janiga (Sophomore #27).  Another notable player this past weekend was Kaitlyn Perrins (Junior #2) who had one goal and three assists.  It was a strong game overall and it was a great start as we look ahead to our games this weekend against the defending National Champions, SUNY Plattsburgh.  We’ll face off against SUNY Plattsburgh November 13th and 14th at our home ice.  Then we hit the road to faceoff against Buffalo State, Becker College, and William Smith to finish off our first semester.

Our entire team has high goals for this season and the majority of our season will be played on the road this year.  Despite being thought of as a team that is not as strong as the other schools in our conference, we want to prove otherwise and have a solid presence in our conference this year and onward.  With the talented roster that we have this year, the prospects for this season are higher than in years past and we plan to meet those expectations, if not exceed them.

Happy hockey season and until next time,

Marie #4
