MEET SKY BROWN!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!

My name is Sky Brown, I am from a small town called Lenore, Manitoba. I graduated college in May of 2018 and since then I have been working for farmers. My hockey started when I was 10, for the small town of Virden. At age 14, I played my first season as a goalie and l never went back to being a player. I ended up playing girls AAA midget for three years and then played four years with the University of Wisconsin-Superior

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BE A WHL BRAND AMBASSADOR?

Since the day I decided to put the pads on, I knew I would love the game of hockey forever. For me, the more girls that get the opportunity to experience this life changing game the better.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO AS A #WHLAMBASSADOR?

I’m excited to have female connections in the hockey world from all over. Also to be able to promote the game of hockey to anyone that it might interest is a blessing.

WHAT’S SOMETHING NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOU?

A lot of people never realize that my full name is Sky Brown, no Skylar, no middle name, just Sky Brown.

IF YOU COULD SIT DOWN AND HAVE DINNER WITH ONE FEMALE HOCKEY PLAYER, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

One player I’d love to meet is Shannon Szabados, she’s an incredible goalie and has represented Canada for years.

WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN IN HOCKEY OR IN LIFE?

My college coach used to say “A bad shift doesn’t mean a bad game” and to me this is very true — you can have a bad first shift but then play a phenomenal remaining 59 minutes. It’s true to life too, one bad day doesn’t make for a bad life.

WHAT’S YOUR DREAM FOR WOMEN’S HOCKEY?

My dream for women’s hockey is for it to keep growing and allowing females to have the experiences that hockey brings to one.
