MEET JACKIE!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!

My name is Jackie Wright and I am thirteen years old. I live in Massachusetts and play goalie for the Massachusetts Spitfires along with Inspire New England in the summer. I started playing the game of hockey when I was six years old and strapped on the pads for the first time at seven years old. Ever since then, I have fell in love with the game and the position.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BE A WHL BRAND AMBASSADOR?

The idea of growing women’s hockey and encouraging young girls to play this amazing game made me so excited to apply to be a WHL Brand Ambassador! I am also looking forward to meeting more people who share the same passion for hockey that I do!

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO AS A #WHLAMBASSADOR?

As a #WHLAmbassador, I am most looking forward to advocating for the growth of women’s hockey and inspiring other girls to play hockey as well!

WHAT’S SOMETHING NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOU?

Something a lot of people don’t know about me is that I have a twin brother, Joey who plays hockey as well. Also, a couple years ago, I learned how to juggle and it is a great way to challenge your mind.

IF YOU COULD SIT DOWN AND HAVE DINNER WITH ONE FEMALE HOCKEY PLAYER, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

If I could sit down and have dinner with one female hockey player it would be Katie Burt. Even though I have been able to skate with her a few times, it is always the highlight of my day! She is an amazing mentor that always inspires me to work harder both on and off the ice.

WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN IN HOCKEY OR IN LIFE?

The best advice that I have been given is to always be the hardest worker both on and off the ice. I have been fortunate enough to have had a lot of amazing coaches and this piece of advice has been a common theme.

WHAT’S YOUR DREAM FOR WOMEN’S HOCKEY?

My dream for women’s hockey is to grow the game for women/girls and to help create more opportunities for girls from all different backgrounds.
