The Moncton Midget AAA Rockets is a female hockey team with a long history. The team was founded in 2009, and has made it’s impact on the female hockey community ever since. The Rockets has yet to lose a provincial championship and has been present at every Atlantic championship since the formation of the team.
The Rockets has also earned a spot at two Esso Cups, once in 2010 and once in 2014. The team continues to grow and for the 2014-15 season, high expectations are once again upon the Rockets.
The girls began their tryout camp at the beginning of September, and are already undefeated during the regular season with a 5-0-0 record. This Midget team has played a total of 17 games including tournaments, exhibition and season games, and already has a combined total of 50 assists and 73 goals, totaling 123 points for the team. That is an average of 7 points per game.
Goaltenders have faced, up until now, a total of 291 shots and with only more to come against opposing midget female teams, senior girl’s competitive teams, and even competitive boys.
The Moncton Midget AAA Rockets have kick-started their season on the right track, with only more success to follow. The values of the team revolve around mutual respect, hard work and teamwork. The ultimate objective is to prepare for the Atlantic Championship, which will be held at home in Moncton and hosted by the Rockets.
The players understand the value of mental and physical preparation, and are pushing hard to become the representatives of the Maritimes at the upcoming Esso Cup in Red Deer, Alberta in April 2015. As the season unfolds, new challenges are always coming our way and the team is facing them as adequately as any young professional athlete. There is still work to be done, but the team is prepared for whatever may lie ahead.
