Share

The PWHPA’s second showcase as part of the Secret Dream Gap Tour for this season will bring the athletes back to Toronto. The Kipling showcase will run December 18-19 at Port Credit Memorial Arena, Leaside Memorial Arena and Scotiabank Arena. This showcase will include Team Adidas (Minnesota), Team Harvey’s (Montreal), Team Scotiabank (Calgary) and Team Sonnet (Toronto).

The first two games will take place on December 18 and will be played at Port Credit Memorial Arena. Team adidas will play Team Harvey’s at 1 pm ET followed by Team Scotiabank taking on Team Sonnet at 4 pm ET. The winners of the two games will go on to play in the championship at Scotiabank Arena on December 19 at 2 pm ET. The consolation game will be played the same day at Leaside Memorial Arena with puck drop at 11 am ET.

The championship game is in partnership with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The PWHPA and the Toronto Maple Leafs have had this partnership since February 2021. This will be the first time the PWHPA will have played a showcase in Toronto since the announcement.

The Ontario Hockey League (OHL)’s Mississauga Steelheads are also running a partnership with the PWHPA. Fans can attend a Steelheads game and a PWHPA showcase game for just $25.

At the PWHPA’s last showcase in Truro, NS, Team Scotiabank won the weekend, beating Team Harvey’s in a shootout. Ann-Sophie Bettez of Team Harvey’s led the weekend with 3 points in 2 games played. With multiple players sitting at 2 points, the race for PWHPA points leader will heat up over the course of the Kipling showcase.

Southern Ontario is truly a women’s hockey hotbed. It is exciting to have another showcase in such a highly-populated area for young female hockey players. Expect to see young hockey players cheering on the PWHPA throughout the weekend.

The action kicks off on Saturday at 1 pm ET, be sure to tune in! The championship game will be broadcast in Canada on Sportsnet.  Tickets for the weekend are also still available!
