Sauce Us a Follow

I just wanted to take some time to show some appreciation for BHUK (Ball Hockey UK) and recognize their growth over the years.

They recently hosted a Junior Draft Tournament which had age groups of U7, U10, U13, U16 and U20. It was a mixed tournament with multiple teams at each age group. There were 50 girls involved in total! This is amazing numbers and I was proud to be a part of it.

Most of the teams at the U20 level (if not all) had multiple girls. My team, for example had four girls, plus our goalie was female.

I believe most of the girls were 13 and under, which, if they stick at it, is a great sign for the future and shows that they’re not afraid to compete with the boys.

We also have a Ladies National Tournament where players from all over Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland can take part and play with and against other women.

The future is looking bright and I wanted to shine a light on the progress and hopefully reach out to any females who want to play ball hockey. There’s a place for every girl/woman in the UK to play ball hockey and I encourage you to reach out to myself or anyone you know involved and they can point you in the right direction!

I also encourage any boys who are unsure about trying ball hockey to reach out and find your local club. The growth of the sport, male and female, is something to be proud of and something to be proud to be a part of.

You can see me in action below playing left D with my linemates yesterday in the above photo!
