AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT: Sarah Chambers | Warrenton, Virginia

Share

Meet Sarah Chambers!

Tell us about yourself!

My hockey story started the first year of 12U when I lived in Kodiak, Alaska. I played for a co-ed team called the Kodiak Bears. That year, I moved to Seattle, Washington, where I double rostered on a co-ed and a girls team. For 14U, I played on the Washington Wild, a girls’ team.

This last summer, I moved to Warrenton, Virginia (we move a lot because we’re a Coast Guard family). I currently play for the 14U Montgomery Blue Devils girls’ team. I play center and left wing best.

The first time I stepped on the ice, I had never skated but I knew that was what I wanted to do as my sport. I just love the people, the competition, and the game.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BE A WHL BRAND AMBASSADOR?

I want to be a WHL Brand Ambassador to help spread awareness about the game and help represent hockey women everywhere!

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO AS A #WHLAMBASSADOR?

I’m looking forward to being more involved in the women’s hockey community, and communicating with more hockey players my age with the same goals.

WHAT’S SOMETHING NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOU?

Not a lot of people know that I want to be a veterinarian! I want to specialize in working with Alaskan areas with reindeer farms, cows, and musk ox.

IF YOU COULD SIT DOWN AND HAVE DINNER WITH ONE FEMALE HOCKEY PLAYER, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

I would absolutely want to have dinner with Kendall Coyne. I loved when she was in the NHL All-Star game and CRUSHED IT.

WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN IN HOCKEY OR IN LIFE?

The best advice I’ve been given in hockey and life is that teamwork is one of the most important aspects. I try to focus on working with teammates a lot, because that’s an area I personally struggle with, and it’s one of the most important aspects on AND off the ice.

WHAT’S YOUR DREAM FOR WOMEN’S HOCKEY?

My dream for women’s hockey is to make it more available to anyone and everyone who wants to play, and make people more aware of women’s hockey in the sports industry.
