MEET KATIE!

Tell us about yourself!

I am from Nashville, TN, and I started playing hockey at the age of 12. Growing up, I played for the Nashville Jr. Predators Girls Hockey program, and I was the first and only female to play for my high school’s boys’ varsity hockey team. I currently play ACHA D1 hockey the University of Michigan!

What made you want to be a WHL Brand Ambassador?

I want to increase exposure for women’s hockey and to be a role model for young female hockey players!

What are you most looking forward to as a #WHLAMBASSADOR?

I am excited to meet other strong, female hockey players within the WHL network. I look forward to hearing their experiences and learning from them, while also making my own contributions to the community!

What’s something not a lot of people know about you?

I have played hockey at the only ice rink in Hawaii, and I also worked as a skate guard there!

If you could sit down and have dinner with one female hockey player, who would it be and why?

Hilary Knight – She has been a trailblazer for women’s hockey, and I would love to hear from her about her accomplishments, the adversities she has faced, and her secrets to being the best female hockey player in the world!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given in hockey or in life?

Hold yourself to a higher standard than anyone else expects from you.

What’s your dream for women’s hockey?

I dream of seeing professional women’s hockey become sustainable and widespread, and I would love for young girls to know that hockey is for them too!
