Meet Corynn Mulkey!

Tell us about yourself!

Hi my name is Corynn Mulkey! I’m originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and now live in Orlando, Florida.  I am 10 years old and in 4th grade.  When I was younger I would go to the rink to watch my brother play and one of his coaches said I should start playing hockey.  So I started going to learn to skate at age seven and soon joined the Winterhurst Warriors Mite team and The Cleveland Lady Barons.  I moved to Florida in 2018 and played hockey for the Central Florida Bears and the Orlando Express Girls hockey team.  This year, I play for the 12U Florida Alliance Elite Girls Team, Orlando Express Girls and my boys DME 10U Swamp Rabbits where I am the captain.

What made you want to be a WHL Brand Ambassador?

I want to grow girls hockey in Florida.  There are not that many girls here that play and we have to travel out of state to play against other girls.

What are you most looking forward to as a #WHLAMBASSADOR?

I look forward to showing younger girls the awesome opportunities that we have in hockey.  I want more girls to play the sport I love!

What’s something not a lot of people know about you?

Before I played hockey I did dance and gymnastics, I also played the piano.  I enjoy swimming, riding my bike and playing my ukulele.  I have a pet turtle named Celly.

If you could sit down and have dinner with one female hockey player, who would it be and why?

I have 2: Julie Chu and Kendall Coyne because they both played in the Olympics and I want to play in the Olympics too.  I would ask them about their life and their career as hockey players.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given in hockey or in life?

Every shift matters and never give up.

What’s your dream for women’s hockey?

My dream for women’s hockey is for it to be as popular as the men’s.
