Meet Rosie Adey!

Tell us about yourself!

Hi, I’m Rosie and I am from Coventry, Great Britain! I have recently graduated with my masters degree in Endangered Species Recovery! However, I currently work as a fitness coach at Village Gyms and part time in a zoo as well!

I’ve been playing hockey since around the age of 12 when I discovered it through the men’s elite team when they were visiting my school! I have played around the world in many tournaments and also lived in FSJ, Canada where I played hockey for a season! I have played for England and Great Britain in my younger days, with my last trip being to Kazakhstan for Team GBU at the Winter University Games! I have now gone back to my local women’s club and coaching when I can. I also run off-ice fitness programs for the girls team!

What made you want to be a WHL Brand Ambassador?

I think having a platform for people to talk and promote women’s hockey around the world is vital and this ambassador program can only do great things, so I wanted to be part of that!

What are you most looking forward to as a #WHLAMBASSADOR?

I hope we can all learn new things from each other and promote the women’s game! I can’t wait to start sharing content and seeing other people’s!

What’s something not a lot of people know about you?

This one is probably that I am a secret bird watcher/photographer! I often can be found in nature reserves looking for rare species—it’s the scientist in me!

If you could sit down and have dinner with one female hockey player, who would it be and why?

Oh, but there are so many! Probably Hayley Wickenheiser because it’s so interesting how things have changed over the years for the women’s game. I might be a bit star struck though!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given in hockey or in life?

Hustle hard and go get your dreams!

What’s your dream for women’s hockey?

I think I would love a community where women support each other (this is on its way already!) and it’s not unusual to see a female coach in charge of big teams! Women are more than capable of everything males do, so I think I would like to see more women on high profile teams. I also just want to see even more young girls enjoying the game across the world!
