Why Do You Play? What Drives You?

The majority of successes and failures are mental. Whether we don’t believe we can, are unsure, or simply give up. We are all physically in shape, or getting there at least. Heading into this season, we have to all believe. No doubts. All it will take is 5 mins of stick handling a day extra. What is 5 minutes? If we all put down our phones for 5 extra mins it would be no problem. It’s that extra push when you’re feeling exhausted doing sprints, to push yourself one more further then before. That’s what it’s going to take to be the best that you can be.

True motivation comes from within. No one can hand it to you, but no one can take it away, either. Each and every athlete needs to find their own motivation before returning back to school, know why you play, what drives you, what gets you fired up. Know what this sport means to you and why you love it so much to spend so many hours out of your day focusing on this thing called hockey.

“Don’t run away from a challenge. Instead run toward it cause the only way to escape fear is to trample it beneath your feet” -Nadia Comaneci.

I play because I love the game and can’t imagine life without it…but also because a close friend passed away who played…and I love lacing up the skates with her on my mind. She used to wear #24 so I am honored to be lucky enough to have gotten that number for both hockey and lacrosse.

I can’t believe it’s almost half way through July already. This summer is flying by!

Well half way through the summer means half way through our workouts and that much closer to being back at school. I am beyond excited to head back up to the 802 and get back in the grind of school and the season.

I absolutely love nannying for the family I work for! The kids are so cute and so well behaved. I only am with them for three more weeks which is so sad! I just confirmed my dates working at the law office again in town with my cousin in august right before I head back to school. I also have more time off so hopefully I’ll get to relax a little.

Catering has been fun! I worked a HUGE wedding at the beginning of the month and a private party last weekend. It is great people watching for sure!
