Well the season has ended, but I couldn’t be happier with how we finished off. To begin postseason play, we outplayed Elmira College, a nationally ranked team and sent them home. This is one game I will never forget. It was the greatest feeling in the world to be a part of such a hardworking, determined, and motivated team. When Elmira scored we never put our heads down, instead we lifted them up higher and kept fighting. This was an emotional game for us all but in a good way. It was unreal to us; we didn’t know how to feel. I remember getting on the bus and seeing every single one of my teammates with the biggest smiles on their face and all I could think of was how much I loved this family. The following week we practiced each day to get us ready for the semi finals against RIT – the number two team in the country. Although we didn’t have the best week of practice I knew that we would come together for the game and fight til the end. And that’s exactly what we did. The score didn’t turn out in our favor – we lost 2-0 with RIT scoring an open netter with a minute left to go. Despite our loss I felt good after the game. Our team fought til the end, we battled hard throughout the entire sixty minutes and they just got the bounces. It was a great way to end our season for the returners because we proved to not only ourselves but to everybody else that we belong here; we belong playing with the number two team in the country.
Now that our season is finished we’ve been starting off season workouts to prepare for the upcoming season. Just recently, we’ve started doing the workout Insanity as well as a two day lifting program and in the next week or so we will have nutrition plans made for us. I think the groups of returners we have coming back are a great group of girls- we are young but we are motivated and I think there are big things up ahead for us. Currently we have five incoming freshman for next year and I think they are all going to contribute significantly to our season.
I hope everyone had a great end to their season and are excited about next year! It’s a new start and I’m ready for whatever is thrown our way!
Enjoy your spring and I’ll talk to you soon!
