Hello Blog Followers,
It’s been a while! I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas Holiday and that your 2012 Year is off to a great start!
The NAIT Ooks and I ended our first half of the season with a great record. We beat our team goal, which is very motivating and a confidence booster for us. The New Year for us started off slower than we were hoping, but we have finally gotten back into the winning routine! This past weekend we beat the Mount Royal Cougars in overtime on our home ice, but did not get to travel to Calgary to play our second match. After Friday night’s game, Mount Royal got food poisoning which left them not being able to play Saturday night. We think they were just scared (haha) and for the record, we did not supply their food! Our team was lost; we didn’t know what we were going to do with a whole day/night off! Lots of the girls finished their homework because they didn’t think they would be able to do it at all Saturday, which left us going out for a team supper, and then going to support the NAIT Men’s Hockey team vs. SAIT.
Our team only has 2 weekends left of hockey, since this weekend coming up is our bye-weekend. We play Red Deer once more, and also SAIT once more, and then PLAYOFFS!!! I still can’t believe that we are almost ready for playoffs; the season has flown by way too quickly.
I forgot to mention in my last blog that our team got the chance to meet Theo Fleury. When we travel to Calgary, we always stop at Booster Juice in Airdrie before the game. When we were waiting in line we noticed this guy at the store beside us and a lot of the girls were whispering and wondering if it was Theo Fleury. Finally, I’m not sure who it was, but one of the girls got the courage to go and simply ask him herself. And what do ya know, there is Mr. Theo Fleury. It was very neat to get the chance to meet him and also get our picture with him. Everyone was pretty excited!
My last blog was at the start of December, so I haven’t really had the chance to fill you in on my Christmas Break. I was home for about two weeks, but it felt like 6 days. Time flew by! It was so nice to finally be at home with my family and friends, and having a new scenery change. I got the chance to watch my younger twin brothers play hockey for the first time in 2 years, and also go out on the ice with all of my siblings. I spent a lot of time running around visiting friends, and then when I wasn’t doing that, I was chilling at home with my family and soaking in all the time I could with them. Getting Mom’s home cooked meals for 2 weeks straight, and plenty of massages was unreal. We got spoiled. Christmas Break ended a little bit early because our team went to Regina to take on the University of Regina Cougars. We played two games against them, then drove home… on New Year’s Eve. We spent New Year’s on a bus, but it wasn’t that bad at all because our whole team got to share it together! Awhhh!
