Hi hockey fans,
Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of winter and hopefully, for the students among us, you are finally done with classes and exams for the fall semester. I was lucky and only had one final exam, so I have been taking advantage of that by getting into the gym everyday and getting on the ice as much as possible. I am off to Florida for ten days, so I want to be on the ice whenever I can before I leave since this will be the longest time I will go without skating since I was in Israel this summer.
Two weekends ago, the Stingers hosted our annual Holiday Skating Party. It’s a holiday-themed free skate and we had a very nice turnout. It was fun to interact with all the kids who were on the ice and just get out and have some fun. My family came out for the skate and it was nice to have them in the arena and to share this experience with them. It’s a really nice tradition that we host every year!
With respect to the standings, we are going into the Winter Break in a playoff position, with a lot of momentum heading into the second half. We finished the first half by playing the first and third ranked teams in the country. Although we were on the losing end of both games, I think we made two big statements about our play. With such a young and dedicated team, we are going to excel in the second half of the season. We are hosting our Theresa Humes Tournament from January 3-5, 2014. We will be playing 3 non-conference teams that we already played in the pre-season, so this is a good opportunity to see how both teams, and conferences have progressed.
I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a belated Happy Hannukah, a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!
With Stinger Pride,
