I hope everyone’s summer is off to a great start! With the way time has been flying, I have a feeling that this summer is going to go by in no time! Oh well, it just means hockey season will come faster :)!
My summer got started off on the right note. I recently just got back from Vegas a couple weeks ago and a dream of mine came true while I was there. I have been a huge fan of Shania Twain ever since I was 5 years old. When she went on her world tour and came to Winnipeg, Manitoba my Mom told me I was too young to go the concert. After she told me that, I went running to my room and cried in my closet for the rest of the night. I was very upset because I couldn’t go but my Mom, Aunt and my older sister were going…my older sister thought it was funny that she could go and I couldn’t. I found it to be even funnier when I called her to tell her that I got tickets to Shania in VEGAS! It was honestly a dream for me to see her and the concert was unbelievable. I went to Vegas with two girls off my hockey team and they were making fun of me because I was at the edge of my seat the whole concert. I guess I really do like Shania!
Before leaving for Vegas I had just accepted a job at ATB Financial. It was such a relief because I was trying so hard to find a job before I left, so knowing I had one before leaving on the trip made me feel a little bit better. It was also a relief because I don’t have my parents calling me three times a day to see if I have a job!!! I didn’t mind the whole going to the gym, going on the ice and then watching hockey every day. I loved the routine so now it is quite different since I have a job!
In a couple of weeks I will be heading on another trip to New York City with my family for my cousins wedding. I know already that this trip is going to be a gongshow! It is the first time our family has gone on a big trip like this while all being together. My little twin brothers have never flown, my Dad hates flying along with my Mom and then my older brother and sister just make everything a bit more exciting, so this trip will have many funny stories to be told and pictures to be taken. I will have to fill you in about it during my next blog.
Off season training is well on its way. Mostly all the girls have been training for a few weeks now along with myself. With all these trips I am going on it is going to be tough to keep up but I plan on doing my best to keep my workouts going while on the trip. Seriously. A lot of our team still keeps in touch to see how everyone is doing with their training and we have started to contact the rookies coming in just to make sure everything is going well with them. It kind of breaks the ice a little bit so when season comes you kind of already know a bit about them!
That is all I have for now! My next blog will contain a lot of stories for you I am sure! I hope you all continue to have a wonderful summer and I cannot wait to write my next blog! 🙂
