Hello Blog Followers,

I mentioned in my last blog that I was going to be excited to fill you in on the month of October, and I am. Nothing but great news, other than it snowed last night. Yuck!

It’s been a great start to the 2013-2014 season for the NAIT Women’s Hockey team. As of right now we are sitting 3-0 and in first place. Our opening weekend was against SAIT and we managed to sweep them and it felt great especially when it was our first regular season weekend. We then played Red Deer the following week and came out with a win in their home barn on the Thursday night. Now, this is where it gets interesting. We were suppose to play on the Saturday, for our second game, against Red Deer at NAIT but unfortunately there were no refs that made an appearance. Our game ended up getting cancelled and is being rescheduled. Instead of just packing up and heading home, our team grabbed our away jersey’s and we ended up playing a couple periods of 4 on 4.

This coming weekend has us up against the MacEwan Griffins. They are a huge rival of ours and it will be a very intense and exciting weekend. Along with our games, we are also having our jersey presentation. Everyone’s parents, alumni and NAIT Ooks Staff attend this event and meet our team. We present everyone with their jersey and it gets everyone to know each other a bit better.

There isn’t really anything else to fill you in on. Our team has been working very hard so far this season and we are working towards defending our championship title from last year. I strongly believe that with the group of girls we have, the determination, commitment and talent, we can do it. Everyone shows up to the rink each day wanting to get better and that’s the kind of team it will take to get to our end goal.

I hope to have many more WINS to fill you in on within my next blog!
