This year I am playing at Scanlon Creek Hockey Academy, located just outside of Barrie. Since arriving in September we have played in many tournaments and are improving massively as each one passes.
The program and routine is slightly different to what its like in England, with a lot more focus on fitness and dry-land and more ice time to practice skills and set plays, and only one hour of school a day which is a bonus. The style of play differs in areas of the game within Canada compared to Europe and the ice pads are a lot smaller so you have to think and react quicker on the puck.
So far it has been a great experience and an opportunity to widen my knowledge of the game and improve my skills.
