Hi, my name is Julie Wardwell and I am a sophomore at Middlebury College and am a Neuroscience major with a minor in Global Health. When we came back from Christmas break the second half of our season started with a game against Elmira College, which we won 3-2 in OT. After the Elmira game, our “J term” began which is when students take only one class for the month of January.

Throughout J term we had seven games. Our first game was against Salve Regina which we won 8-2. The next weekend we had a two game series against Wesleyan where we tied the first game 2-2 then won the second game 4-1. After the Wesleyan series, we had a week until our next game so we practiced hard and prepared for our next two game series. We won our first game against Amherst 2-1 and then tied Amherst the next day 5-5 after OT.  After a tough series of games, we returned to Middlebury preparing for another tough series against the Bowdoin  Bears. In our sixth game of January, we beat Bowdoin 4-0 and then tied them the next day 1-1.

J term came to an end after our Bowdoin series and the rest of the student body besides the winter athletes left campus on vacation.  While the rest of the student body left for vacation we continued to practice hard and focused on our away games at Hamilton. The first game at Hamilton we won 3-0 and won the second game 3-2 in OT. After a day off on Sunday following the Hamilton series, we prepared for a midweek game against Utica College at home.  We won our Tuesday night game against Utica 5-4 in a thrilling game.

We are currently preparing for another NESCAC matchup against Connecticut College this coming weekend. We have six more games remaining in our season before we prepare for playoffs. Our team has grown tremendously since November and we are hopeful that our team will go far into the postseason!
