It’s crazy to think that we are already at the halfway point of our season. Even though it’s been a tough last couple of weeks, we finished the first half with a 3-0 win over #9 Bemidji behind 34 saves from my goalie partner Katie Fitzgerald and two goals from seniors Amanda Arbogast and Audrey Hanmer. Sophomore Lauren Hespenheide sealed the victory for the Huskies with an empty netter. Looking back on the first half we were not completely satisfied with our play, but we are optimistic heading into the break. We’ve already won two more games than we won last year with 14 to go before playoffs! We just had finals last week and everyone was anxious to have a break from school to get home and see their families and friends. We don’t have to be back on campus until after the first of the year, so it’s nice to have some time to rest and recharge before the last half of the season.
It seems like just yesterday I moved into my freshman year dorm with Abby Ness and now we only have 14 more games until playoffs. I can’t wait to put on that jersey the second half of the season for my final months as a St. Cloud State Husky. As seniors we haven’t had the best record over the four years, but I wouldn’t want to go through any of the ups and downs without these four beside me. Here’s to the last part of our senior year!
Come out and watch us battle the Ohio State Buckeyes January 9th and 10th at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. Puck drops at 3:07 p.m. CT both days.
Happy Holidays from the Huskies!
