Well, the days are winding down before I leave for Lugano, Switzerland. Growing up, I never thought I would end up playing hockey in an Italian-speaking country, but I guess you just never know. I am very excited for this new adventure! I’m sure I’ll get a little nervous closer to my departure date but right now I’m just anxious to get settled in over there. I think it’s awesome that female hockey players have the opportunity to play the sport we love in beautiful European countries.
I’ve already got my visa all set and ready to go, now I just need to start packing and moving all of my stuff into storage. I can’t wait to get back into the swing of things once the season starts! It’ll be interesting to see how the European teams are run in comparison to American teams. Hopefully I can understand the drills in practice despite the language barrier….
After 3 seasons with the Boston Blades in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League I felt like it was time for a change. I figured if I’m going to ever play professional hockey in Europe that now is the time. I’m looking forward to learning about a whole new culture and lifestyle and you guys get to be there every step of the way!
More to come…
