Five Members of ZSC Lions Come Home with Bronze Medals

Well I am proud to say that five of my teammates came home as Bronze Medal winning Olympians for the first time in program history…Hop Schweiz! Its very cool to be in the same locker room as such talented and hard working girls. While they were gone, ZSC combined with GCK (the B team) to play in a tournament together, which we won.. Swiss Woman Cup Sieger 2014 champs! It was a lot of fun to work with the GCK girls, and the whole tournament proved to be a growing experience for both ZSC and GCK. Now that the Swiss national team players are back, we begin a best of five series with Neuchatel for the semi finals of the Swiss Women’s Cup. Neuchatel has proved to be tough competition in the past, so the team is really excited to play, and has been preparing all week for the series.

While the Olympians were off winning medals, ZSC had a one week break from games before the ZSC/GCK team took to the ice. My roommate and I chose to use that time to cross yet another country off of our list: Spain. We spent 4 amazing days in Barcelona, enjoying the tapas, paella, and amazing sights. The beauty of Barcelona simply can’t be described in a way that will do it justice, but I tried to take as many pictures as I could! Even in winter the weather was gorgeous, and the whole country was green and bright. We tried to visited as many of the famous architectural works as we could, but I think even if we had two weeks we couldn’t have touched upon them all. Though it is nearly impossible to pick a favorite spot in Barcelona, I do have to say that Guell Park was something else. Even in the winter the landscape was breathtaking, I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in the summer! Even though I was exhausted after four days of wandering through Barcelona, it was tough to say goodbye. Hopefully I can squeeze in one more trip before I leave Switzerland, but even if I can’t, I can still say I have crossed off Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, and Switzerland from my international check list..not bad work for my time here. Until next time!
