It has been a while since I have last written, and we have had five games under our belt. We started the season off with two games vs. Conn College sealing a victory in our first game 3-1. Because of the schedule this season, we have to play most teams back to back, twice in one weekend. After our victory on Friday we turned around to play them again, facing a tough loss. With just a two-day turnaround we were back on the ice Tuesday for our home opener against Nichols College. Coming out with surprising grit, we faced a good Nicholas goalie and lost a close game 3-2. With a rough couple games, we were relieved for Thanksgiving break.
Because we don’t get very long off for Thanksgiving, I decided to stay in the area and visited my best friend who lives in Andover Mass. We spent our Thanksgiving with the fresh snow in New Hampshire before heading back to Andover for some black Friday shopping. Break was fun and relaxing but it was exciting to see the team again even though we had only be apart for just over three days. We got right back into the swing of things with a practice that Sunday night to prepare for a big weekend against Middlebury. We had a good week of practice, as we prepared for our first official overnight of the season in Middlebury Vermont.
Piled on the bus, pillow pets in hand, we prepared early Friday morning for a long bus trip up to Middlebury for a double header this past weekend. Coming out fast as usual Middlebury put an early goal on the board in our first game. With not much time or space a fellow sophomore Lauren Glynn scored a beautiful backhand after walking out from behind the net. Although we played with them the entire game they scored a late goal in the third to seal the 2-1 victory. With our heads high we went back to the hotel to get a good nights sleep to come out strong Saturday. Like the day before, the same Saturday was a tough battle. We played with them the entire game, but again they got the right bounces and came out with a win 3-1. Although a disappointing weekend for our stats, we were satisfied with the way we played, getting back on the right track for our upcoming games against RIT and St. Thomas this weekend, December 9th and 10th. With our first few games under our belt we are looking forward to earning some wins this weekend in our final games before we leave for the Holidays.
Not only is hockey winding down for the Holiday’s but so are classes, which means final exams are on the way. With everyone studying hard we are looking forward to the end of classes and for the Holidays. Next time I write we will be heading into our games during winter break, which everyone looks forward to every year!! I hope everyone has a happy and safe Holidays!!
