Canal Season Isn’t Over Yet!

Reading week may be over but some of you may still need some rest and relaxation time. With one of the principal attractions of Ottawa located right beside our school, don’t miss your chance to skate on the world’s longest rink- the Rideau Canal! Starting just steps away from Parliament Hill and extending itself to Dows Lake, the skateway is 7,8 kilometers long.

Scared of getting too cold? Don’t worry; rest areas where you can warm up and put on your skates were made just for you. There are also areas with small fires where you can warm up and enjoy a hot drink and snack. BeaverTails are served up hot and fresh at different points along the canal.

Personally, I find skating on the canal a great way to spend time with friends. It’s relaxing and refreshing when you need to do something other than homework. Grab a couple of friends or come over with your family for a great time. Don’t wait before it’s too late. The ice is still in good condition and will be until the weather permits it.

Hope to see you there.
