Calgary Dinos Fighting for Playoff Spot

Hey everyone! First off I would just like to apologize for my lack of blog posts these past couple of months- last semester was super crazy for me with traveling for hockey along with a full course load but I’m back now with another update!

The first half of the season ended at the beginning of December so after final exams the girls and I were able to take some down-time away from the rink. I went down to Sandpoint for some skiing and R&R with my boyfriend, which was a much-needed break after my hectic semester. It allowed me to come back feeling very rested and ready to get back into the grind!

The Dinos are 3 weekends into the second half of season now and from here on out every game is very important. We along with several other teams are fighting for a play-off spot. The league is very close this season which makes every weekend of games very intense and competitive- exactly what hockey is all about. Last weekend we were in Winnipeg playing the University of Manitoba. Despite a hard-fought loss on Friday, we managed to win in overtime on Saturday which was a much needed 2-points for us.

As a team, we all know what we need to do as individuals and as a group in order to win. Anyone who knows hockey knows that playoff hockey is an entirely different game. Everyone manages to find that extra gear, and the amount of passion each girl brings into the rink seems to multiply. The great thing about playoffs is previous standings don’t matter so much. Upsets are not uncommon, and any game could go to either team. There are only 3 more weekends of games left before playoffs and I am confident in the girls that we can pull through.

This weekend coming up we have a home-and-home series with the U of A Pandas, playing at 7PM in Calgary at Father David Bauer arena and then at 7PM in Edmonton at Clare Drake arena.

Go Dinos!
