Bowles Enjoys Christmas with Family and Friends

Happy New Year Blog Followers,

I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that the New Year has started off right! I have to say that the holidays went by super quick for me but I am also happy to be back at the rink and starting off the second half of our season.

Our team was back at it on the 1st of January for our first practice and will be playing a couple exhibition games this weekend to get our legs back after the long break. Our first league games will be taking place next weekend (January 10th and 11th) against our Edmonton rivals, the MacEwan Griffins. I am quite excited for that weekend because I haven’t played the Griffins yet this year since I was away in Manitoba during our last match up. It is always an intense couple of games when we play them and it is good hockey to watch. The league is very tight this year with all the teams being very close point wise. I think this second half will have a lot of intensity and hard work coming from all teams which will make it challenging and competitive. There are some years when new players come in for the second half or some players leave after second half, but our team is happy to say that we have the same group of girls coming back. We can only get better from here!

Now getting into Christmas Holidays, I had the most wonderful time at home with my family and friends. I was home from December 16th to the 29th and that is the longest I have ever been able to spend at home since I have been coming to NAIT. I didn’t necessarily do anything too crazy and out of whack but I spent most of my time visiting with family and friends and that is what I mostly wanted to do anyways. I got to see my younger twin brothers play for the first time with their Junior A hockey team, and I also got to see my older brother play for the first time in 4 years. He just graduated from playing in New York and I wasn’t able to see him play then but now he plays for our hometown which is nice! I spent a lot of time with my older sister as well and got to see her brand new place she just bought and then obviously spent numerous amounts of time with my amazing parents. Our family always has so much fun together and it was good to have all the kids home for the holidays. Many laughs were had! I got to see all the friends I needed to see and that made for a good holiday as well! Obviously I feel like it went by way too quick but I will be visiting home again before we know it!

That is about all I have for now and I look forward to sharing our second half of the NAIT Ooks Women’s Hockey season with you. I am sure it will be filled with lots of excitement and great hockey games!

All the best in 2014!
