The Blades season could not have gotten off to a more exciting start tonight! After being down 2-0 in the third period, Karen Thatcher spurred the comeback, followed by Kacey Bellamy evening the score at 2 all with our our goalie pulled. The fastest hockey was played in 4 on 4 OT with lots of open ice and fast breaks. Still even at the end of five minutes, we went to a shoot out.
No one likes to end a game in a shoot out. Though they are exciting especially for fans, I think the players on the ice would prefer to play it out until the lights are shut off. It was a fantastic preview of the caliber hockey we will be able to enjoy this season. The depth of all of the teams is going to push the competitive level. I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the CWHL right now. Every team is strong and everyday is a battle. I can’t wait to get back out there tomorrow to play some of the best hockey in the history of our sport!
