A Fun-Filled August Working NAIT Hockey Camps

Happy September Blog Followers,

I am so happy that this month has arrived as it is going to be full of many wonderful things! The Ooks 2013-2014 season starts tomorrow, our exhibition tournament is this coming weekend, my birthday is on September 11th (bad day to have it, I know) and my roommates, who are also my teammates, have officially moved in! A lot of people I know are sad that summer is over, but to be completely honest, I don’t even mind. Fall/winter is my jam!

August was quite a busy month for myself. I worked full time at the NAIT Hockey Camps, which turned out to be another successful year for them. We had a great group of staff members who all made the camps as successful as they were. The feedback from parents and the kids was tremendous and very positive, yay! I was also working at the bank on weekends so I rarely had a day off, but the money made it all worth it.

September is going to be a very busy month as well. It usually is since we try and play as many games as possible to get back into hockey shape for the new season. We will be playing a lot of exhibition games this month and we are also going on a 5-day trip to Toronto. I am very excited to go on this trip with the new team, as it will be kind of an ice- breaker trip where we can get to know the new players a bit better. Going to Toronto is just sweet in general though!

Our Blue-Gold tournament takes place this upcoming weekend as I mentioned earlier and it is a tournament where all of our league teams come play and also a bunch of AAA Midget Teams as well. It is a great tournament that is a lot of fun and it is basically helping us get back into game mode and shape.

Our season opener isn’t until October 25th so we have a lot of time to prepare. Our schedule is very busy with practices, workouts, exhibition games and we can’t forget the good ol’ fitness testing! Classes also commence tomorrow so it will add more to all of our schedules.

That is basically all I have to fill you in on for now! But when I write my next blog I know I will have so much to tell you, including the Toronto trip! I am looking forward to sharing my 4th year as a NAIT Ook with all of you and I hope you all have an amazing month of September! ?
