MEET RIVER SCOTT!

Tell us about yourself!

I am originally from Delta Junction, Alaska, but I recently moved to Anchorage. I am a goalie for the tier 2 14U North Stars. I used to live in a small town so getting looked at for hockey was usually difficult, and it’s probably the same for other girls in small towns around the world.

What made you want to be a WHL Brand Ambassador?

I wanted to be a WHL Brand Ambassador to further women’s hockey around the world and help girls be inspired and strive to fulfill their dreams and goals in hockey no matter how difficult they may be.

What are you most looking forward to as a #WHLAMBASSADOR?

I am looking forward to helping more women play hockey and enjoy it as much as I do!

What’s something not a lot of people know about you?

Not many people know that I play two sports, hockey and softball.  Most people also don’t know that I like to paint and draw.

If you could sit down and have dinner with one female hockey player, who would it be and why?

If I had the chance, I would sit down and have dinner with Alex Cavallini, because she has competed for the US national hockey team multiple times and has won a gold medal in the 2018 Olympics. Her accomplishments encourage me to do better and strive for more so I can do great things like she has. I would rather have a hockey practice with her, but dinner sounds great!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given in hockey or in life?

The best advice ever given to me is that after every time I get scored on to forget about it and focus on the next shot. This advice has helped my through a lot of rough games.

What’s your dream for women’s hockey?

My dream as a female hockey player is to make it to the Olympics to support my country and to one day look at my family and tell them I made it.
