3x Olympian for Team Canada, Shannon Szabados has certainly been occupied during quarantine; with a new baby girl who was born in August of this year, Szabados adds “children’s author and illustrator” to her list of achievements.
After realizing that many of the books she planned to read to her daughter did not hold much significance, she decided she wanted to write and illustrate a children’s novel that features themes of adversity, persistence and encouragement.
She says, “During my pregnancy I started receiving books from people, and they were cute, but essentially they were just words on paper that rhymed. Most of them did not provide a learning opportunity for my daughter so I questioned why I would read them to her. I thought what better way to teach her something than write a book myself. ”
Her book, Every Bunny Loves to Play is officially available through Amazon and just in time for the holiday season.
